Description

Portrait of the Mind –
feeling the unspoken language of the soul

Is the result of a personal search, a long-term dialogue between opposite aspects; seen and unseen, rational and irrational, human and animal.

I look past the obvious; my art has a variety of styles. But there are things that are linked in the core of meaning by the traditional painting technique oil on canvas. Where the search is looking for something hidden under the look that reflects what is inside the mind to see when focus.

This exhibition presents the variety of sensations, emotions, expressed at once for the animal aspect and the human body. Both minds connected, all differences are blurred: pain, happiness, sadness, joy. All emotions can be seen as one, expressed from a human-animal totemic character that reminds us the main rule of the universe “everything is one same thing” But only an observer can see, as in Buddha’s words, no one can teach us to see, we are the ones who have the obligation to see by ourselves.

For me, I am still learning to see, the essential thing that can be seen with the mind. Hopefully, this will inspire others to look more carefully, discover the world around them and feel that ‘see’.

Get to know Kannika Jansuwan

Since Jansuwan was young, what she remembered was her love of art. She spent a lot of time talking to trees and her own artworks more than she spent time talking to people. Later, Jansuwan earned her bachelor degree in faculty of arts from Silpakorn University, a well-known university to study art in Thailand. This was the real beginning of her self-discovery journey. Over the years, through a long process of trial and error, Jansuwan has tried many forms of creative art.

The experience of feelings determines what she enjoys and chooses to do. What she found are the state and the process of creation, which are the heart of her artistic expression. The pattern is therefore unreliable. She does not create a brand. Instead, she creates art that is both healing and expressing her thoughts and feelings on her paintings.

What she likes to express in her art is what she learned from life and living. She believes that all things are connected, and we are obliged to learn the same thing under the same rules, but different states under the same conditions in this world, that will make us understand things around us when we understand ourselves. She looks at everything through the tools of life we have come to like. So in the form of artistic creation. She will not stick or monopolize the stereotype or process but will create and express through a format that can support the story of her life learning at that time.

More than that, what she is still looking for is an understanding of what comes in and what is the highest of the human mind. She lives to find and create to express what has been understood and developed to continue to understand life.
