The Enchanting Fish | Siriratda Noiwichai

฿ 48,600.00

มัจฉาร่ายมนต์ is the Thai title that translates into ‘the enchanting fish’ – describing the picture Noiwichai has envisioned in her creative mind. The image of a beautiful woman is presented within the painting with a fishtail appearing from behind her small frame. This describes the female figure as a very gently-poised and soft mannered person, almost comparing her nature to the motions of fish – swimming ever so elegantly in a pool of the unknown.

Description

Get to know the art

With her frequent references to Thai culture, Noiwichai asserts the patterns of Thai traditional clothing into the cloth that the woman is holding out to display. The freedom of these movements showcase the lightness of the textile. In terms of the patterns, the reflected triangular shapes that are spread out all over the cloth has been a common Thai pattern that has been developed ever since the making of the clothing itself. The patterns are of Thai culture, using the same shapes that are formed in many Thai textiles including cotton on pillows and silk on scarves display the wonderful geometry that makes the eyecatching design.

Get to know the artist

The style of the work will be realistic and impressionistic. The main content of her work is a woman with flowers because the artist was fascinated by the beauty and gentleness of femininity. Flowers are what convey the most of femininity, and sometimes also convey a subtle sweetness but hides the strength of a woman very well. The idea of feminism is ever-so present in Noiwichai’s work, expressing the physicalities of a woman and what makes the important elements of a female individual. The artist uses abstract comparisons to compare the idea.
