Get to know more about “Nang Kwak”
The word ‘Nang’ in Thai means woman whilst ‘Kwak’ means beckon or summon. Nang Kwak sometimes dubbed “Miss Inviting” is a talisman which gently attracts customers and wealth. She is normally located near the till or in a raised position on a shelf near the entrance to a store as Thai belief that god, godess or any sacred spirit must be in a high or raised place and also the holy spirit will welcome and attract the the customer.
In Thailand, it is believed that this spirit is supposed to bring wealth to the household and is particularly popular with shopkeepers. The spirit is dressed in traditional Thai costume, also wears a golden crown on her head and is in the sitting or kneeling position. On her left hand is a money bag and her right hand is lifted up. She is either beckoning customers to come into the store or asking for wealth to come her way with her posture.

History of Nang Kwak
I”t was made from the belief ” Female Holy Spirits has been in Thai society for a very long time. As a female spirit, it is believed to be more careful and protective as well as mom. It’s hard to tell the exact time “Nang Kwak” has been made. But from the evidence, the Nang kwak statue was found for the first time during the Ayutthaya Period with different type : steel, Bronze, Soil, or Wood.
Afterwards, Nang kwak was apparently popular during the RattanaKosin Period or around 200 years ago. Especially during King Rama 4 and Rama 5. and in this present day, we can see a lot of Thai houses and Thai stores have Nang Kwak helping her attract customers and help the business.
How to worship “Nang Kwak” to improve your finances
If you would like to improve your finances and increase sales then Nang Kwak will always be there to offer assistance. Pay due reverence to the Goddess of Wealth and repeat the following mantra. Your charity and meritorious actions will be rewarded.
Mantra : “Namo Tassa Bhagawato Arahato Samma Sambuddhasa 3 times”
As in Thailand we believed that she likes red syrup drink (sala flavour known as “nam daeng” in Thai), we always offer it by put an opened red syrup or sweet drink beside her. From my study observation, it sometimes includes the red lipstick, flowers or sweet fruits as offerings to Nang Kwak.
Note : Please be diligent in changing the water drinks and food offerings every morning when you open your shop for business. When you show your pampering devotion and love, she will return a favor by bestowing upon good sales and fortune to you.
