Suwan Lamom

Suwan Lamom is Thai artist with more than 20 years of experiences. His artworks have brought Thai traditional style to be once alive as part of contemporary art. And also a medium that the truthful of Buddhist tradition would be transferred.

He first entered this path way since teenage by preferring art study instead of high school. After receiving high vocational education’s degree, he applied for further learning as well as practicing to Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. During those time, his ideas and style had been shaped more clearly. He then applied to the long famous Silpakorn University which he received master’s degree from Thai Art Department, Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts.

Becoming the artwork: Enlighten

Enlighten, according to Suwan’s intention, is a representation of Thai contemporary art. This acrylic and gold leaf on canvas painting was inspired by Buddhist tradition. Expressing sensation through moving lines, each connections becoming the beautiful yet meaningful picture. Which is about the comparison between the worldly mundane and the world that was awaken as well as released by receiving the “Enlightenment” of Lord Buddha.

Becoming the creation of Thai artwork

Representing messages as well as delivering feelings require not only inspirations from within but also the right way to accomplish. Which means each artist needed to figure their style and technique along with practice art working skills. And like the becoming of pictures that base on certain story or inspiration, style also has got their own background. For Suwan, his circle had influenced his future career’s path way since a very young age. “I was born and raised in jeweler specifically goldsmith family. So I was nurtured as well as educated about Thai art and craftsmanship since little”, said Suwan. Impressed by the meticulous and exquisite of Thai art, he then had adopted this style to be his medium. Moreover, he further developed Thai traditional art once created by the master of artisan from older generation to be more comprehensible in contemporary period.

After graduated his master’s degree from Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, he has produced artworks continually. His style has been getting more pronounced along with representing Thai style painting in more contemporary way. The main idea intended to be delivering are inspired by art itself, culture, belief, and eastern philosophy that reflecting good through faith and hope. His artwork had reach the point of uniqueness that each creation piece is his signature.

Suwan Lamom is Thai artist with more than 20 years of experiences. His artwork is a reflection of the power of Thai contemporary art. And also the representation of the power of faith and hope.

He firstly received his high vocational education’s degree from Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Changmai. Then receiving Bachelor’s degree from Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts majoring in the program in painting, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. Nevertheless, he further studied as well as practiced art by enrolling to the long famous Silpakorn University which he received master’s degree from Thai Art Department,  Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts.
