Not as seen” The philosophy of something not as seen, not as what you think, not as that always, it could be surprising. – Tanya Tansaringkan

Not everything in our world is the same as we believe. The beggar can be a wealthy man or the wealthy individuals you see on social media can be poor people in real life. This can be described well for the world “Not as seen”. From this concept to the painting, the guy in the suit outside appears modest and humble, yet inside he is surrounded by cats.

Why a cat? Cats can be interpreted as many things. It can be joyful, amusing, or curious. Cat can also be interpreted as an introvert sometimes. So basically cat means mostly “emotional” as well as inside of this young good looking boy but inside, there are a range of emotions, as the phrase “Not as seen”.

Get to know the Artist

Tanya Tansaringkan received her bachelor’s degree from the London College of Fashion and then pursued her master’s degree at Marangoni Istituto (Milan College at London Campus).

After her graduation, she interned on a project co-designing for Mulberry and Agent Provocateur, two British fashion brands. Soon after, she began her career as a fashion designer and ran her own fashion brand for several years. She was also a Fashion Lecturer at Bangkok University.

But during the pandemic of Covid-19, Due to having more time for herself, she has discovered her new passion in painting as a new avenue for her to transform her passion in fashion, her thoughts and ideas through canvas. She began to draw her first painting and it became her first debut solo exhibition “Variety Surreal : Fashioned interpreted onto Canvas” at River City where fashion, her creativity, and her desire of surrealism play were all influences in her new passion in her almost 20 painting.

Surrealism is her style!

Surrealism aims to revolutionise the human experience. It balances a rational vision of life with one that asserts the power of the unconscious and dreams. The movement’s artists find magic and strange beauty in the unexpected and the uncanny, the disregarded and the unconventional. This became the reason that made the strong enthusiastic “Tanya” begin to pick up the brush and express her feelings full of emotions and dreams, and transfer it on her canvas like writing a diary!
