Get to know the artist Passakorn Pachana’
‘Passakorn Pachana’ also known as ‘Winner One,’ received a Bachelor’s degree with honors from Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts, majoring in Thai Arts, Silpakorn University. He was born and raised in Surat Thani Province, Southern Thailand, in the Fisherman Village. Passakorn is currently living and creating art in Nakhon Pathom Province, where he is gaining valuable skills for his art career.
Life can always find inspiration
From the goal of conveying aesthetics of impressions and experiences to life’s stories, culture, beliefs, love, people, and spirits. Passakorn conveys his impression through the variety of shapes in his paintings, as well as the relevance of natural the local environment such as farm, village, seas, rivers, canals, forests related to people’s way of life. Depicting and conveying moments of joy and simplicity that are a connection to the perfection of nature that has created the beauty to the way of life is where his inspiration comes from and it has driven him to create his art.
12 Years of Art exploring life
“It starts in junior high school,” Passakorn explained. “Art was somehow interconnected with my life. At the time A teacher persuaded me to join an art club to learn and create art, and I’ve been in love with it ever since “- He went on. Passakorn had practiced his technique and applied to numerous art contests during his junior year to put his skills to the test.
Life had changed yet again. Passakorn Pachana continued his education after high school at Nakhon Si Thammarat Technical College, a college that nurtured the best and most skilled art students at the time. He had the opportunity to experience many types of art at school, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, Thai art, design, pottery, and academic technique, which helped him discover what suited him best.
After graduating from the College of Fine Arts in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Passakorn was given the opportunity to continue his studies in the popular school of art at Silpakorn University’s Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts for a 5-year course. From his first to third year, he worked hard to figure out what his technique and style were. He then decided to major in Thai because he was fascinated by Thainess, identity, lifestyle, and culture.
How was your life during studying in Thai Major?
While studying in Thai arts, Passakorn proudly stated, “As my family is a fisherman in Surat Thani and I’ve grown up learning about their traditional and culture, most of my artworks take inspiration from the family and portray the culture and lifestyle of fishermen village.
I continue to compete in drawing competitions on many stages while I study in order to promote my artwork, get feedback from viewers, and earn money.
What do you see yourself after graduate or 10 years after?
“After graduation, I plan to pursue a career as an artist and continue to create art. Many of my friends and colleagues have become well-known and famous, which has inspired me to continue creating arts. Furthermore, no matter how depressed or disheartened I had been. My family has been very encouraging, which motivates me to continue and achieve my goals for them” – said Passakorn.
