Description

The impression from the artist

This art toy reflects upon the artists wildest imagination – to incorporate something out of traditional folklore with modern creations invented from human ingenuity. This gives a contemporary feel to a creature that many avid literature readers are familiar with. Adding special elements to an animal with existing immense power pushes viewers to imagine the strength this creature can possess. This gives the toy a charming and alluring factor to it, with natural and synthetic details, we can paint the creatures motion in our head – just as the artist intends us to.

The Myth

The creature represented through the art toy is the Ussadorn Hayra (อัสดรเหรา) or what is described as a hybrid of a horse and and a serpent. It is a common character in Thai literature, which is partially based on hinduism. In these folklores, characters like these are quite common and typical as they tend to mix different characteristics together, producing many hybrids. The artist was inspired by several modern innovations and the support it gives to natural forces. Combining these two elements creates an interesting contrast in the art toy and enhances the existing skills of the Ussadorn Hayra.
