The gallery also showcases works by emerging artists.
YOUNG PROGRAM 2022
In the gallery’s Young Program 2022, La Lanta Fine Art is thrilled to showcase two new talents in Thai contemporary art.
The Young Program strives to find and give a platform for fresh talents to share their ideas and artistic practices with a larger audience. This year’s program includes work by two young female artists, each of whom distinguishes herself via the use of unconventional art material.
Auscharaporn Klamkluan (b. 1991)
Auscharaporn Klamkluan is a traditional Thai artist who has had official training. She shows how to do gold appliqué on lacquer (Long Rak Pid Thong) with reduced visual clues and a modern touch. This intricate technique is often found on paintings and wooden doors in Thai temples in black lacquer accented by gold leaf. Auscharaporn’s artwork recognizes and emphasizes the natural hues of the base material to match the gold appliqué. The ornamental graphics adhere to the Thai pattern while employing modern compositions.
Patcharisa Suwannarat (b.1991)
Patcharisa Suwannarat is a sewing expert. She employs diverse needlecraft abilities to make handcrafted textured artwork with cloth as the basis material. Her skills for making Haute Couture’s flawless wardrobe include sewing, embellishment, and trimming, as well as French techniques. Her topic is the symbolic significance that Eastern culture bestows on specific artifacts that are said to bring fortune, good health, and success.
