Exhibition Information

The movement of Abstract Expressionism in 1960’s marked the theme of ‘process’ in the history of art. Materials, procedures as well as the artist’s characteristics of paint handling take precedence over the final work. The exhibition “PERCEPTION” revisits this notion in art making. Showcasing eight works by Thosaporn Suthum, the exhibition investigates the practice that emphasizes the interaction between creator and medium.
The meaning behind the artwork is abstract. The artist is showing emotions and feelings that are harmonic and at times chaotic. The artwork in “PERCEPTION” is a result of repetition and the occasional accident. These two elements combine to create the textural surface representing the artist’s emotion complexity. It draws a parallel line between idea vs reality and the expected vs the unexpected.
